Two weeks ago I completed my new PC build and everything appeared normal. A few nights later, I encountered a BSOD with the error code Memory_Management. Initially, I believed it was a RAM issue but decided to perform some tests, which confirmed the diagnosis. This issue arose when XMP/EXPO mode was active; after turning it off, it no longer occurred.

Currently, I haven’t experienced a blue screen in two weeks, but whenever I stream on Discord, YouTube, or any other video platform using my secondary monitor, I encounter significant lag spikes. These spikes temporarily reduce my GPU usage, utilization, and voltage to 0% (Image 1). Additionally, during gaming or watching videos on the secondary screen, my FPS suffers from micro stuttering and overall drops (Image 2,3). This only happens when the video isn’t in fullscreen mode; once it is, the performance improves and the game runs smoothly (sometimes this issue appears with Image 1). I typically achieve around 300-400 fps while gaming, and between 40-120 fps when watching videos.

What could be responsible for these Image 1 drops—RAM, PSU, GPU, or something else not mentioned? My build should handle running games and videos simultaneously; is this a faulty component or a settings-related problem? Any guidance on troubleshooting would be greatly appreciated!

execute run memtest
modify the bios on the motherboard
verify the Windows setup using DISM commands
assess the SSD/HDD via the manufacturer’s utility and apply updates when possible
