Hey everyone,

I’m dealing with a rather odd problem involving my Sapphire Radeon 7900 XT GPU. I’ve tried everything—reinstalling drivers and performing clean installations—but nothing seems to resolve the issue. The GPU always powers on and the fans spin, yet the monitor only activates about 8–9 out of 10 times. When a picture is taken, Windows blocks the GPU with Error Code 43, and AMD Adrenalin flags a product mismatch, preventing it from launching. Even when disabled, the card still sends basic video output; I can connect a monitor directly and see an image.

GPU-Z identifies it correctly and shows the proper VRAM, but reports 0 MHz for the GPU clock and memory clock (other values seem normal). The problem began a few days ago while I was working with a three-monitor configuration. I was just browsing and watching a video—no heavy tasks—when all three monitors went dark. After a restart, only one monitor turned on, which is when these symptoms started.

I removed the GPU, cleaned the case, and reinserted it. It functioned properly for about six hours. After shutting down the PC overnight, it worked again the next day. However, after another restart, the issue reappeared. I left the GPU outside the PC for a day without testing, then tried it again—this time it performed perfectly, even under load. Once I restarted once, it still worked, but after the second restart, the screen remained blank while the fans kept spinning.

I’ve never changed or physically altered the GPU in any way—it’s been in my system for roughly two and a half years without any problems before this started.

Device manager = error code 43
+
GPU-Z = fields with zero(0)'s, N/A and unknown
Your GPU is dead.
Please list the specs to your build like so:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model. BIOS version for your motherboard at this moment of time.

I just thought it wasn't completely dead because it functioned well today until I restarted. Gpu-z displayed normal values again, there was no code 43, and everything worked perfectly under load.
I don't have the full specs of my computer, but I connected two different GPUs and both performed fine.

With the remaining system details, others can more effectively pinpoint additional potential problems beyond what you've mentioned.
