About three months ago I purchased a brand new ASUS RTX 4070 Ti Super Dual graphics card. At the time, its temperature was 74 degrees under full load with the fan running at about 55%. Recently, both the temperature and fan speed have begun to rise steadily. During the latest benchmark test, the card reached 80 degrees and the fan speed climbed to around 88%. It’s worth noting I faced a similar issue with my previous Sapphire RX 6800 XT graphics card. That one initially operated at 75 degrees, then increased to 88-90 degrees and eventually caused a thermal bottleneck. Now my new card is also showing this trend. What might be causing these changes?

The interesting thing is that I had the same problem with my previous Sapphire RX 6800 XT graphics card.
Make and model of your case? Make and model of your fans? Orientation of said fans? What has changed since those 3 months?
Motherboard - ASUS ROG STRIX B550F Gaming.
BIOS version for your motherboard?
See if running DDU in Safe Mode, removing all GPU drivers(intel, AMD and Nvidia) to manually reinstall the latest driver sourced from Nvidia's support site, in an elevated command, helps.

Case: Zalman Z3 Plus has 4 120mm fans. No changes in the past three months. Identical issue with the same case, fans, and system. BIOS version 3611. I can attempt DDU and install the latest drivers.

It seems the GPU might require a refresh, and the heatsink could use some cleaning (if you haven't been maintaining it).

The Zalman case appears to be an older case with less than ideal airflow. You described having four fans, but their setup was unclear—only one fan at the front, partially hidden by the drive cage frame, and another at the bottom for inlets. It seems there could be two outlets on top and one at the rear. Clarifying this might help address the temperature concerns.

Looking for dust bunnies. I've been using a shopVac's exhaust side for over 20 years with great success. No parts have been lost, just a clean machine.

How much sag exists in the card? Does it seem like the cooler is moving away from the card?

When the graphics card operates quietly and browses the web, the temperature stays near 36-38 degrees. That’s the same as when I first purchased it. If there was any missing thermal paste, wouldn’t it become warmer in passive mode? For instance, my RX 6800XT reached 45-50 degrees during passive operation. Also, there’s no dust accumulation on the heatsinks. I maintain a clean PC case and components regularly.

The front fan takes in air, and the rear fan expels it. The upper two fans remove air from the system. It doesn't seem like that. Similar to when the graphics card is idle and browsing the web, the temperature stays around 36-38 degrees. That was the same when I first purchased it. Keep in mind that fans operate efficiently when the temperature is below 50 degrees.
