GPU increases power briefly for a short duration
Hey everyone... a few weeks back I saw my RX 580 GPUs suddenly crank up to 100, possibly dropping to zero, and then stop. After trying driver updates, the issue still exists. I noticed it only happens when the PC is idle and the monitors turn off. Also, it started around the same time I connected one of my monitors via DisplayPort. Anyone have any thoughts? It’s really annoying and seems to be harming the fans too.
The only other possibilities were a failing card or, very improbably, corrupt VBIO data. Make sure to inspect your monitor for Display Port Deep Sleep—it really caused me discomfort when I received the LG GN950.
I was using just one monitor since the RX 580 only provides one HDMI output... I purchased an adapter from DP to HDMI for the second screen. Probably I need to redo the DDU and perform a clean install again. The issue is that I can accurately identify the exact time it began affecting me—usually when the monitors shut down from idling, which often happens while I'm sleeping. I’ll have to try once more and hope it resolves.
