GPU identifies the monitor as "disconnected" during standby. Resuming the computer from sleep.
I possess an RTX3060 with just a single HDMI port. I recently got two Samsung monitors that only provide HDMI inputs. Connecting both via an HDMI-to-DP adapter to the GPU’s DisplayPorts, they function properly until I power down the PC or Windows shuts off the display after 15 minutes of inactivity. With two monitors, when one enters standby mode, the GPU mistakenly thinks the cable is disconnected. This triggers a sound alert, which wakes the PC if it’s asleep or causes the monitors to wake up. The other monitor then reverts to standby, repeating the cycle. This pattern repeats continuously. Using the HDMI port on the back works fine, but only one monitor can be used at a time. Plugging in the second monitor with the adapter also causes the same behavior. This situation is frustrating. I've tested various DP adapters and cables, but the problem remains unchanged. Windows and the GPU seem to be at fault. It’s been ongoing for months since I installed the monitors. I've updated Windows and drivers, yet the issue continues. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. 20260124 020727.mp4
It's typical for the BIOS to be unaware of a second display since it relies on the operating system.
What?... That doesn't make sense. What does the BIOS have to do here? I've had a multiple display setup on many machines, and I've never had this issue before. Besides, there's no setting in the bios to adjust display behaviour. This isn't a laptop. Let me be more specific: This only happens when the PC goes to sleep or Windows turns off the displays after a period of inactivity. If I turn the PC off completely it behaves as expected.
