I constructed this system roughly three months ago without any issues, but recently my GPU has begun losing output unexpectedly. I can play certain games for extended periods, yet once I close them it drops the output and the PC must be restarted to restore video from the GPU.

On my second monitor, when the GPU video disappears, the system freezes for a minute before showing only the active display until a restart occurs. The GPU then reverts to an outdated driver, which I have updated again.

I’m trying to identify the cause and am struggling to understand what’s wrong. I’m considering taking it in for repair soon. It’s been frustrating since this problem just appeared after no internal changes. Thank you for reading until the end.

Apparently, something is causing your main 7900 XTX card to stop working, at which point the BIOS is switching over to the integrated GPU in your i9-13900K. The two GPUs will use different drivers but I'm not sure why your GPU (7900?) reverts to an older driver and needs updating after the crash. This doesn't make sense to me.
When you are playing intensive games, have you checked the GPU temperatures with a monitoring program? You have a powerful processor and heat may be building up inside the computer case, to the point where the GPU starts to throttle or (potentially) stops working. You could use MSI Afterburner to reduce the GPU's maximum power by 5%.
To prove/disprove this theory, remove the side panel from your case and aim a large desk fan into the computer, to reduce hotspots around the GPU's fan intakes. Run a game or a stress test program, e.g. Cinebench or Furmark. I don't believe in needlessly stress testing components with benchmark programs if the computer is working fine, but you might get the system to crash faster with a benchmark app than during extended game play.
Please state the exact model of your PSU and computer case. You'll need a good quality PSU for that rig.

I have reviewed the temperatures on the CPU and GPU during the time the 7900 xtx ceased video output, which were within normal ranges—around 60 for the GPU and 60-70 for the CPU. The power supply unit I used was an Aresgame AGT series 850W model. The case is a Corsair 3000d mid tower equipped with four external fans and a H115i Elite capellix.

It began functioning properly after playing a game, but then it would freeze and lose display for a few minutes. The system would reboot the drivers and the video would appear again, though it only worked for about 15 minutes before disappearing entirely until a restart. This has been very frustrating because the PC had been running smoothly for three months without any problems. I’m struggling to figure out what’s causing this issue, especially since I strongly believe it might be hardware-related.

There is a review from September 30, 2021, describing the Aresgame 850W PSU as mediocre. It seems this might be the reason for your issues.
Considering the rest of your system's quality and its high power needs, I recommend purchasing a higher-quality unit priced between $150 and $200.
Check what others suggest on this forum. Avoid saving money on the most critical component—opting for a reliable PSU with a 10-year warranty is a wise investment.

Yessir will do, consider staying at 850 watts or opting for the higher-rated 1000 watt power supply.

A decent 850W should suffice, but for extra security I'd opt for 1000W.

Alright I put in the new psu, updated all of my drivers and all is well so far! I'll put if anything goes wrong in the thread but for now it looks like getting a new PSU did the trick thank you so much for your help.
