Hi
I'm thinking about overclocking the GTX 1060 3GB with an Intel i5 7500. I'm worried about...
- The GPU overheating or smoking
- Power surge or fire on the PSU
- Unstable performance or crashes
- Potential damage to my PC components
- Overheating the GTX Titan
- What are the safe gaming limits?
I need some advice, especially since my power supply is only 500W.

Coolermaster usually refers to budget PSUs, but most of them are low-end. On a 1060, it's unlikely to cause any harm. If it does, the PSU might fail, but it won't destroy your house. Running a GTX Titan on that unit is quite costly, so you should think about a higher-quality PSU. A Seasonic Focus 550w would be a good option.

if you're nervous, don't push it to overclock. Even with overvoltage or high speed settings on the GPU, it won't damage anything—it just slows down or stops working, causing the PC to hang or shut down. Instead, try using the MSI Afterburner to boost the clock speeds of your core and memory. I'm using an Asus Strix 1060 with 6GB RAM and have set +200 for the core and +550 for the memory.

Hello there,
I'm trying to overclock my GTX 1060 3GB (MSI) with an Intel i5 7500. I'm worried about a few things:
- The GPU overheating or smoking
- Power supply issues causing a crash
- Potential damage to the PC parts
- Overheating the GTX Titan
- What are the best settings for gaming?
I need some advice, but I think most of these concerns are unlikely.
My power supply is only 500W, so please help me.
I'm not sure what brand or model it is, but if it's not good enough it might fail or limit overclocking.
If you're talking about the GTX Titan, let me know more details, you mentioned a 1060?
If I go too fast and make mistakes, the GPU could get damaged. But if I go slow, test small changes, the worst case is just a system crash and reboot.

Hi
Hi again
I'm thinking about overclocking my GTX 1060 3gb (MSI) with an intel i5 7500. I'm worried about...
- GPU overheating or smoking
- Power supply issues
- News breaking soon
- Damaging my PC components
- The GTX Titan model
- What are the optimal settings for gaming?
bump

All five of those concerns seem unlikely.
Your PSU is 500W but I don't know its brand or model. If it's not a good one, it might fail, or it won't allow much overclocking.
You mentioned the GTX Titan—what exactly are you referring to? You said you own a 1060?
If you overclock too aggressively, you could harm the GPU. But if you go slowly, make small adjustments, and test carefully, the worst outcome might be the system crashing and restarting.
Cooler Master 500W is my PSU, and yes, I have both in my setup. I'm planning to push the 1060's limits, so I want to know what to expect. I had a GTX 1060 until Christmas, and I remember hearing about overclocking. I was hesitant at first, but now I'm ready. I just need guidance on settings, risks, and best practices.

Coolermaster usually refers to low-end PSUs, so most of them are okay with an 1060. If something goes wrong, the PSU might fail, but it won’t cause a house fire. Running a GTX Titan on that setup is quite costly, so you should think about a better PSU. A Seasonic Focus 550w would be a solid option.
Thanks for your tips, I really need to replace my PSU. Also, do you know the right MSI Afterburner settings for GTX 1060 and Titan during gaming?

Hi there!
Rogue Leader says most of these CPUs are budget models, so a 1060 shouldn’t cause much harm. If something goes wrong, the power supply might fail, but not enough to ruin your house.
Running a GTX Titan on that setup is quite costly, so you should think about upgrading to a better PSU. A Seasonic Focus 550w would be a solid starting point.
Thanks for the tips—definitely need a new power supply soon. By the way, do you know the right MSI Afterburner settings for GTX 1060 and Titan? You can’t run both cards together for gaming; they don’t work in SLI or similar modes. Plus, support for older games is limited.
