I'm facing a confusing situation, and I don't have many options left. I upgraded my gaming setup with a new motherboard, power supply, and a solid GPU and CPU. Current details: Asus Prime H510M-E 32 GB Corsair Vengeance RAM at 2133MHz, Zotac GTX 1650 non-powered (no 6-pin), 800W Apevia PSU, Windows 10 Home on X64 Intel Core i3 10100. I realized I needed a different GPU and ended up using the old RX 570 with 8GB RAM. It kept showing error codes—1 long beep, 2 short beeps. This points to a GPU or RAM problem. After swapping out the GPU, it functioned properly on the older system but not on the new one. I built a test rig to check if the issue was with the GPU itself. I used an old i5 6500, Acer TC 780 board, a 1TB drive, Windows Home X64, and a 750W PSU. After installing drivers and updating BIOS, the problem persisted. The 1650 works fine in my new rig but the 570 triggers errors. I tried two different power supplies without changing the outcome. It seems newer boards might be reducing compatibility for older GPUs. I’m unsure if there’s a specific BIOS setting or PCIe configuration affecting it. I still have the RX 570 performing well, so I’m not sure why it’s causing trouble now. I’m considering upgrading eventually, but the RX offers good value right now.
I meant anything prior to an RX 590 or the latest GTX, RTX, or XT models. It's strange it doesn't work on newer systems but runs smoothly with older ones, like the i5 7400 or 6500.
RX590 matches the RX570 lineup. The motherboard isn't very recent. I recommend cleaning the copper connection, resetting the BIOS, and trying again.
Default bios was set for July 2021 but didn't work, so I upgraded expecting a compatibility fix. No changes before it recognized my GTX 1650. Cleaned contacts yet nothing happened. Was wondering if updating the BIOS in order of release is necessary or if jumping to the latest version works. The default revision is 1071, and the newest is 1600 on the Asus site. I'm trying to understand this better.
Yes. 570 needed a six-pin connector. Both the 750W and 800W power supplies come with two sets of PCIe 6+2 pin cables. My 1650 draws power directly from the board, which means it's not related to a PCIe slot or power supply problem. I don't think an LGA 1200 socket would be this sensitive. I plan to upgrade the BIOS gradually, hoping it makes a difference. That’s all I’ve done so far. Or I can wait for my next test and get a 1650 Super.
