I relocated from America to Europe and took my laptop with me. I connected it and the graphics card began overheating. I contacted the manufacturer, but it’s past the one-year warranty period, even though NVIDIA offers a three-year warranty on the 4090 model. The power supply unit lacks a voltage adjustment switch. I’m trying to diagnose the problem before buying a replacement GPU—or at least hoping NVIDIA will honor their warranty, which doesn’t look very encouraging. Any advice would be appreciated! You connected the incorrect power source to the wrong outlet, causing excessive voltage to flow into the device. This likely damaged all electrical components, with the GPU showing signs of overheating. It seems you considered replacing the GPU but then reused the same faulty power supply at the same voltage, which would almost certainly cause further failure.

The PSU supports 240VAC input. @OP suggests checking all components, as the issue probably lies elsewhere.

Before starting, I checked that my power supply matched the voltage requirements. I also intended to purchase a replacement PSU.

They likely used a 240-volt power source in the United States.

He claimed to have relocated from America to Europe. It seems EU uses 220-240 volts, whereas the U.S operates around 110 volts. Also, many power supplies are compatible with both types of outlets.

Checked the details and confirmed the PSU is compatible with any power source. This means the issue wasn’t due to incorrect installation.

Connected via the cable I packed and a converter I purchased during my time in Europe. Uncertain if the converter is the issue—very unlikely because it's a placeholder adapter like this one (https://www.amazon.com/Orei-American-Eur...r=8-8&th=1).

Bad adapters can seriously damage equipment. I faced this problem during a move. Once I installed the adapter, I noticed the metal pins weren’t fully cleaned. This caused connections to fail and stopped things from working properly.

Do you possess a power supply tester or a multimeter for evaluating the PSU? That should be the initial step you take.
