The issue involves my GPU fans increasing to 100% during gameplay, especially in titles like Path Of Exile 2 or Squad 44. The temperature remains high at 60-65°C regardless of in-game actions, and the fans return to normal when I exit or re-enter the game. Adjusting fan speeds via MSI Afterburner didn’t resolve the problem, and I haven’t found a solution on the internet. The concern has lasted since purchasing this GPU several years ago. I’ve updated drivers but seen no improvement. Appreciate any guidance!
Mention the GPU average is around 60-65°C. What about the hotspot reading? (Check HWiNFO64 for details) This occurs both without and with a fan curve preset. Fans tend to adjust temperature readings by default, usually showing the average. MSI Afterburner might be complex—double-check your configuration. Can you share the fan curve graph and your Afterburner setup? (Also, I’m using Fan Control now, which many prefer.) Edited December 22, 2025 by leclod
Consider adjusting the fan curve settings. Use FanControl to experiment until you achieve a suitable balance between noise and temperature. The "Target" mode is useful for this purpose.
I'll attempt the Fan Control setting. Appreciate you highlighting the hotspot temperature. HWiNFO64 indicates it increases to 100 °C immediately after launching PoE2. It might be due to the GPU's thermal paste not being applied properly, or perhaps another factor.
Yes, there seems to be an issue. The 40° delta is excessive, while you have a 12° delta on your 3070. There might be a couple of problems—paste application, thermal pads application/thickness. Also, the PTM7950 is a good choice for a GPU die, though not the best; you can find decent options at AliExpress. Edited December 22, 2025 by leclod
I wasn't aware of fan speed linked to hotspot temperature, which makes sense. Updated on December 22, 2025 by leclod
