Hello, I’m dealing with a Colourful Igame 3060ti OC setup paired with an i5 9th gen processor and a Gigabyte B365M motherboard. It comes with two DDR4 16GB RAM sticks. My GPU fans spin up to 3450RPM at full speed (100%), but the temperature stays around 83°C even though the limit is set higher. Raising it to 90°C didn’t make a difference. I haven’t enabled any overclocking and haven’t adjusted NVidia control panel settings—it’s just factory-configured. I’ve tried using NVidia fan control in the performance tab, MSI Afterburner, and even reinstalled Windows, but nothing helped. After cleaning the fans and using GeForce Experience drivers, the issue persisted. It only occurs during intensive games, not during stress tests like Furmark or MSI Kombustor (possibly due to DirectX12), but it happens in 3D Mark as well since it uses DirectX12. While gaming it causes display to freeze and restart, during stress tests it follows the fan curve and reaches full speed when temperature hits the limit—still normal operation without shutdown. I bought this card two years ago and have never had problems until now. I’m unsure if it’s a hardware or software issue. It could damage my GPU, so I really need a fix as soon as possible. Please see the video attached; it clearly shows what’s happening. It black screens for hours of gaming and then restarts. Help is urgently needed! 086555504.mp4

Yes, you can download GPUZ and take a screenshot of the main page after it opens.

The PCIe connection speed is limited to Gen 2. Verify adjustments under stress should display '@ x16 3.0' on the 9th Gen i5s. For more details about your issue, let me know what power supply you're using.

It switched to PCIe link speed for Gen 3 under load, but it turned out to be just a power-saving feature, so it stayed at Gen 2. The issue remains unchanged.

You're referring to overheating issues, with the PC shutting down completely and a maximum temperature reaching 90 degrees. You want confirmation on two of those points—GPU fans are running visually, or not. If yes, replace thermal paste; if not all fans work, address the underlying cause.

Overheating isn't a concern if 78°C is seen as too high. The PC won't shut down entirely; just the screen goes dark while audio remains, and after that it restarts. The maximum temperature limit is at 90°C in MSI Afterburner. Thermal paste might help, but the issue seems to appear only during gaming, not under stress. I suspect a software problem—checking the fans, all three are spinning.

ok so not really overheating (yet) 1 issue is definitely your choice of programs, fumark and Kombustor? they are useless, nvidia will throttle their cards slightly when they detect it, and these programs also never were any good to begin with (other than destroying graphic cards lol...) superposition is pretty good you just have to run it several times if you really want to test heat build-up (like 3 or 4 times, not more)... and firestrike... i mean its a good test and benchmark, maybe not for maximum heat though. i mean it does sound like the card is fighting temps (btw super counter productive to keep testing for heat in that situation) i can only suggest to replace the thermal paste, has helped others with similar issues, or rma if thats still possible.

I believe it’s overheating. According to HWInfo, the hotspot temperature reached 104℃—is that typical?
