Hello, Background: My setup includes an Rx 6650XT and MSI Pro Z690-Pro DDR5 with a Corsair SF600 power supply. Problem: Inserting the GPU into PCIe Slot 1 (PCIe Gen 5.0) doesn’t produce any output. The motherboard still shows the white VGA indicator light, while the GPU and fans spin normally. The GPU functions correctly in PCIe Slot 3 (x4 Gen 3.0). Troubleshooting: I assumed the CPU was the issue, so I swapped it with an RTX 3070 in Slot 1, which worked perfectly. However, the Rx 6650XT didn’t respond. I also changed the BIOS mode to Gen3 for Slot 1, but the GPU still didn’t appear.

It seems the slot might be faulty. My best guess would point to that issue. You could check the GPU-Z to see how many lanes the 3070 is using—since the 3070 supports PCIe 4.0 x16 and the 6650XT uses PCIe 4.0 x8, mismatched lanes or a damaged CPU could explain the difference in performance.

CPU model is i3-13100f. I’m considering checking it out, but there’s a risk I might damage it by touching the pins.

Yes, you can download and execute GPU-Z to check the PCIe lane count for the 3070. A lower number may indicate an issue.
