GPU and Memory ?
Good day everyone.
My issue is unusual when playing games; my GPU disappears unexpectedly. It only happens in certain titles, like NFS Heat and Last Epoch. My AMD Sapphire RX470 4GB Blower model is affected. I tried disabling GPU auto-updates and running it stock, which allowed me to run at 83c. I thought it might be due to overheating, so I lowered the voltage and adjusted the fan curve, which brought it down to 69c. I also downloaded a driver from 2020 to check if the problem persists. Wolcen Lords of Mayhem also did something similar. I limited my FPS to 30 and it worked fine for the past day.
In the second question, I initially thought I needed 16GB RAM for my work PC with a third-gen i5 and RX470. My memory setup is 2x8GB and 2x4GB, with the 8GB and 4GB from the same brand. I checked my memory speed before, but now I’m unsure if 16GB at 2133MHZ or 24GB at 1600MHZ is better.
When sharing a troubleshooting thread, it's standard to provide your complete system specifications. Please list the details as follows:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
Include the age of the PSU along with its make and model. BIOS version for your motherboard at this time?
Most programs running RAM at 2133MT/s show little to no improvement over 1600MT/s. The key is increasing memory capacity rather than reducing it. Set the machine to 1600MT/s, boot MemTest86+ from USB, execute a complete test suite, and if no issues arise, utilize the full 24GB available.
