Hello, I own a Santech 870M 6GB laptop. I'm experiencing thermal problems, especially around the GPU and its cooler. The GPU begins throttling when temperatures reach about 75 degrees. I've already cleaned the thermal paste and everything else. It's been overclocked to 1057 MHz, but it still throttles even when not overclocked. Once temperatures hit around 73-75 degrees, it drops back down, and at 80 degrees the clock drops significantly to about 920-960 MHz. (It never goes above 80°C). This is really frustrating. I've been working on this for weeks. Other laptops with GPUs can handle up to 90 degrees, yet this one throttles when it should not. I've attempted to enable voltage control via MSI Afterburner, but it doesn't work. I also tried flashing a new VBIOS with lower voltage, but the process is problematic. The CPU also throttles, but the thermal readings look normal. According to the Intel tuning tool, "current limit throttling" suggests the motherboard can't supply enough current to the CPU. It's an i7 4700HQ processor. If that's correct, it doesn't make sense because increasing voltage should allow more current flow. I've tried everything I know but haven't found a solution. I'm already using a cooling pad and have done all I can to try lowering GPU temps (except liquid metal, which I'm avoiding due to risks). Is there any way to prevent throttling at these normal temperatures? Or can I unlock voltage control by updating the VBIOS? I've posted on several forums, but no one has helped me. I really hope someone here can assist me. Thanks. (Sorry if there are typos, but my language isn't perfect.)

Just don't overclock it, it really does make a difference.

Does MSI Afterburner provide a feature to manage your GPU fan? This would allow you to increase the fan speed to keep temperatures below 70°C and prevent throttling. Alternatively, it seems there isn't an option to unlock GPU voltage, as they are likely BIOS-protected. Another possibility is downclocking the GPU to balance performance with cooler operation.

Because the temperatures are already high, the fans will operate at full speed. People don’t want to lower their settings. You can clean the fans to remove dust from older computers, which makes them run even hotter than when they were new.

everything is clean and I swapped the thermal paste with some mx-4, but it didn't make a difference...
