The game performed significantly better with older drivers and hardware. Finding a GTX 9800 along with an appropriate driver from around 2012 was challenging. It lacks the visual appeal of newer cards and updated drivers.

I recognized this from playing on GT9300, seeing it run on GT9800, and testing again in 560ti and 780ti. The 9300 had around 30-40 FPS loss due to weak cards, not just draw distance. The 9800 looked great at 560ti, but I was worried about my card. At 780ti it was disappointing, so I made a video about it.

It's the same issue that makes GTA San Andreas appear poor when the anisotropic filter is enabled and the game runs at maximum settings.
