You need to change the disk format to GPT before installing Windows. Use a tool like DiskPart or GParted to convert the old drive. This will allow Windows to recognize it as a proper disk.

Use this procedure to delete all information from the storage device. While setting up Windows, press F8 to launch the command prompt. Type the following instructions: diskpart list disk select disk 1 clean convert gpt. Choose the right drive when you say "select disk x".
