Got some trouble with my computer freezing up constantly?
It is normal to clean your CMOS (CLRTC) after a BIOS update or if you have other problems. If you didn't do this before your last update, that might be causing your issues. When you update the BIOS, clearing the CMOS wipes any leftover microcode from the memory. This makes your BIOS go back to its factory default settings. It takes about five minutes for this process.
WOW! Great outcome. The next time, just take five minutes and you'll get there too! 😊
So far, so good. It's been months without problems for me now. Thanks to @Roland Of Gilead and @punkncat! Long ago, back when I was retired, I worked as a CNE and MCP on Windows 2000. Things have changed a lot since then. John
Hey John. Thanks so much. You got me spot on with technology and how things change fast. That's exactly why I'm visiting Tom here. I want to keep learning new stuff, find answers, and ask questions. Have a great day! Let us know if you see anything else coming up. Keith
Thanks, but this problem is coming back. It used to work fine in Excel on Office Pro 2019 before, but now it just stops working suddenly. After that happened, the Print Screen button also freezes up. On Windows 11, you can choose exactly which part of your screen to copy by using your mouse. Even though the feature is available, it still hangs when used recently.
This was just a brand new setup. The only changes are regular updates. After running SFC and DISM, it's running much smoother. For my spreadsheets, I use Libra Calc instead of Excel. I haven't needed to restart the computer at all. Even pressing Print Screen works fine. Is there a way to do a repair install of Office Pro 2019?
Right click on Start and go to Apps. Find your Office apps like Microsoft Office 365 or Office 2019. Pick the Office app and hit Modify. Choose either Quick Repair or Online Repair, then pick the one that works for you. Click Repair now.
