I built this setup way back in July 2023: Win 11 Pro on an i7-12700K, a Gigabyte Aorus Elite AX D4 tower, and a Deepcool AK620 fan. I also have two big storage drives, the Samsung 980 Pro and the Samsung 850 EVO, plus a Radeon RX 6900 XT card inside an Lian Li case with a high-power power supply. It worked fine for a few months until last month when I upgraded to the Windows Insider Program. I went back to version 22H2 because that update didn't help, and I also rolled back my graphics drivers since then. Now it freezes up in big loops every time I turn something off or open a file like Excel or YouTube. Sometimes it hangs for 10 to 20 seconds, sometimes the screen dims and my mouse vanishes. I tried turning things off again and turned them on once more, checked if there are viruses with Windows Defender, but the only thing showing up is that Game Bar stopped working with an error name called MoAppHangXProc. What can I do to fix this?

Hi there, you might want to try resetting the CMOS and setting the BIOS to its defaults. After doing that, test it one more time. Which BIOS version are you using? You could also run memtest86+ to check your RAM and see if it's causing the problem.

I have an F9 BIOS version, but it's not on the Gigabyte site. F7 is the newest one you can get to download. So GCC probably updated it. Right now I'm running MEMTEST86+. It feels slow as paint dries. I'm using my BudgetBox, a Ryzen 5 3600 that I bought last Black Friday from Micro Center for $130 (CPU and motherboard).

The MEMTEST86+ just kept going through the whole day. I turned off the test after it ran for 18 hours using 12 passes on a 32GB piece of DDR4 memory and there were no errors! 😛 That means the issue isn't there at all.

Right after I posted the above info, I opened a file in Excel and it got stuck. It's hard to get control back from the computer now. This is the first error in msinfo32 WER: 11/13/2023 11:43 AM Windows Error Reporting Fault bucket , type 0

Run the file checker link and then restart your computer. The operating system might be having problems.

Scan results show no problems with the Windows security check. It's a cool feature that I didn't know about. Thanks so much!

Here is the plan I wrote down. After running a check with ScanHealth, it found something useful. So now I'm going to run RestoreHealth again and see what happens:

PS C:\Users\Johns12700K> DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool Version: 10.0.22621.2552
Image Version: 10.0.22635.2700
[==========================100.0%==========================]
The restore operation completed successfully.
The operation completed successfully.

Have you cleared your CMOS yet? If not, please do it now. Then try testing again.
