Got PC BSOD while playing games.
Hi - So sometimes the backstory is more important than logs but for preservation of time, I'll include some information below. Device name DESKTOP-2KGNI0F Processor Intel® Core i5-2400 CPU @ 3.10GHz 3.10 GHz Installed RAM 8.00 GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 BIOS BIOS Date: 09/28/12 20:23:47 Ver: 04.06.05 Manufacturer American Megatrends Inc. Followed by SSD, HDD (OS is on SSD, Alongside the game I am trying to run.) 8 fans, CPU temp & GPU temp are actually quite cool. So what we do know already; GPU was faulty previously so replaced with same type, just new GPU. RAM slot 1 rejects the same RAM it came with, though slot 2 works fine (If you attempt to put the RAM inside the slot, it will powerup, and shutdown, this will loot until changed.) Windows was on 10, now on 11. SSD/HDD/RAM (Still not convinced) appears fine on the memtest, windows memory diagnostics. I also noticed, it will generally load a game past lets say, tutorials, interactive or not, fine. However, the screen will go black sometimes, my frames, temp all in the green, then bluescreen, this time it was related to the Kernel data inpage, which, could be ram related? Crtical process died, I've added the two dumps, and also cleared the eventviewer before bsod, it shows no real indicators.
Welcome to our forums! Newcomers, please include your full system specs when posting about troubleshooting. List things like this: CPU cooler, Motherboard, RAM, SSD or HDD, GPU, PSU, Chassis, OS, and Monitor. Also, tell us the age of the power supply apart from its model number. Please share your current BIOS version for the motherboard. Let's check if Windows 10 was upgraded to Windows 11 using the internal path on Windows 10. This often causes issues when loading games. Did you upgrade? And which specific games do you play, where did you get the installers from? I've attached two dumps that don't have links to the .dmp files yet. Please put them on a site like Dropbox and send us a link so we can see them.
I used Rufus and a USB to make Windows 11 work, wiped the hard drive, and put Rocket League on the SSD so the main drive stays free for other things. I started it through the Epic Games Launcher. Oh yeah, sorry about that error message (BSOD) lol; I was afraid I wouldn't be able to turn it on without crashing. The power supply is a bit tricky because I don't know its exact voltages, and honestly, I can't remember any of them after all. I checked HWIDMONITOR but couldn't find anything there either. Here are some extra details: the CMOS setting was off, but I had some spare batteries from my old computer that might help me figure out how to check it later. I never really thought about checking the BIOS before trying this again.
