Got major internet problems again even after trying different fixes.
Seconding this point. Internet Service Provider technicians usually rush to fix things quickly and start the first issue they find. But if the problem goes back and forth, that's not very helpful. "It's just nothing on my side," people often say. That is wrong so far. Just because devices are new doesn't mean everything will work fine. Settings matter, but how things connect physically does too. It could be a bad splitter or a broken cable, etc. Lots of cheap cables are sold. Do other network stuff or computers have trouble? If some don't and others do what is the common problem? Wired gaming is much better than wireless. Wireless can make gaming worse without knowing why. More variables mean more trouble to find when you use wireless. There is much more testing that should be done instead of guessing. Otherwise, without a lucky guess, the fix might never come. You used Task Manager. It is just one tool among many. What about Resource Monitor, Process Explorer (free from Microsoft), Task Scheduler, Update History? https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysint...s-explorer Reliability History (very helpful for finding things that happened a few weeks ago) and Event Viewer: maybe you can find the error code, warning, or even an info message when problems happen. Modem and Router have been swapped out. Make and model numbers? Is connectivity coming from coax, DSL, or fiber? Check the router's logs if they are available and turned on for any issues. Who has full access to the router? You need help from that person too. Do the same with the modem as suggested by @bill001g. Use these tools to see what your computer is doing or even stopped doing when lag and ping spikes happen. It could just be some app or utility being started by Task Scheduler when triggered, or a faulty splitter/filter.
