So my laptop just came back from the shop and they swapped a new motherboard that added 8 GB of memory instead of 6 GB. Super cool! But I noticed the CPU can run cooler, so I set up -90 mV cooling mode and it feels smooth. The highest temp I hit is about 95C while playing Apex Legends and Halo Infinite with Multiplayer. That's pretty good for a laptop.

But then there are some problems. Some games feel really choppy even though I'm trying to keep the frame rate capped at 75 FPS just because of heat. In Left 4 Dead 2 and in parts of Halo The Master Chief collection, I see strange stuttering that makes it laggy. I checked my temps... they are actually normal for a laptop (70C to 80C on the CPU). I even moved the Halo game from my old hard drive to a new fast SSD named m.2, but that didn't help stop the lagging feeling.

I took out the undervolt setting and restarted the PC with Throttlestop installed... wow what a shock! Wait no it did not work right? When I look at the numbers in Throttlestop, my fps is still 75 but sometimes my 99th percentile goes down to half of that, other times even lower. Since I just got things back from repairs I thought all drivers were updated. I manually updated the nvidia driver to version 511.23 before trying the games again.

My computer setup is like this: CPU i7 7700HQ, GPU Nvidia 1070 with 8 GB GDDR5 memory, RAM SODIMM at 2400MHz, two big storage drives (one SSD for my OS and one large hard drive for gaming), plus another smaller hard drive that is spinning slowly.

I really don't know what to do here please help me out ^^

Update: I got rid of the G SYNC by turning it off. V SYNC is also turned off. If you saw this on Google, try doing the same thing too. I guess some malarkey made this work... anyway, stuttering is now so rare that I can live with it. That counts as a win!
