I usually set my browser to dark mode, but now when I open an image site, Google seems to think it should use the theme of my Windows computer instead. My system looks dark on all the screens, so switching back to light mode makes me feel really bad and hurts my eyes. Can anyone tell me how to stop this from happening?

which browser do you use? On Chrome, the theme is at the bottom of the page and switching between two looks easy. Did you update Chrome or reset it? Maybe it's just a glitch. It shows the same way in Edge too. I can't change Firefox themes because I don't have any choice there. I didn't look in the right place; the option is actually there. My PC doesn't seem to swap when I switch my desktop from dark mode to light mode.

I am using Google Chrome. When I search for something, a little gear appears in the top right corner. If I click that gear, three choices show up at the bottom: "light theme," "dark theme," or "device default." When I open the images tab, Google automatically changes to the device default setting without me doing anything else.

I see that but settings on one page should not touch other pages. What you set for search shouldn't affect anything else. So are you saying just visiting the images page changes the search settings? Well last time I helped someone with a weird Google thing, it took a few days to show up. They have been messing with search results recently. The shade of black on the search screen now is darker than it was a few weeks ago or it might not be... they roll out changes in stages

I had the same problem, but YouTube kept switching my theme to dark mode even when I asked for light mode. It usually just set the device default instead of letting me pick. This lasted about a week and then stopped on its own yesterday. Now everything looks normal again, so I'll wait a day or two to see if it goes away itself. One thing people said online was to delete all temporary files. I tried that, but it only helped for 2 or 3 pages before coming back to dark mode (the one I didn't want). So I'll wait a few days to see if it fixes itself on its own.

Do you think I ought to hold off? I'm going to wait, thanks for being helpful.

Whatever I type into Google, clicking the pictures tab makes the whole site turn light just because. Let's give it time and see if that goes away on its own. Thanks so much for helping me!

https://support.google.com/websearc...le...itch?hl=en see what I mean about waiting, unless that is you? if not, his post shows there isn't much you can do to avoid it, for now. It might be part of a change to how google does color - https://www.androidpolice.com/googl...ag...erial-you/ - this is android but its likely to apply to chrome on PC too.
