Google Drive storage problem
Google Drive storage problem
Hello everyone. I’m currently moving data from my backup drive to my Shared Drive in Google Drive. My Shared Drive has unlimited space, but I’m encountering an error saying I don’t have enough room for the transfer. Additionally, my My Drive is filling up during the process, even though it and my Shared Drive are supposed to be separate. I’m using stream mode instead of mirror, and I only have 150GB left on My Drive while needing to move 1TB of data. My Shared Drive currently holds about 2TB. I’m wondering why I’m being blocked from copying the remaining data at once, and why the space allocation between My Drive and Shared Drive seems linked. Could you help clarify this? Thank you.
How do you configure the drive in options? Is it mirrored or streaming?
With mirroring, your files are saved both in the cloud and on your computer, which uses hard drive space.
You can retrieve your files anytime, even without an internet connection or when the Drive for desktop app isn’t running. Files are available via folders on your computer.
With streaming, files remain in the cloud.
Hard drive space is only needed when you open files or make them offline. Offline files can be accessed only with an active internet connection. All files, even those available offline, require the app to be running. You can access them through a mounted drive on your computer.

Not sure if that’s the reason but it might be.
I don't know about any unlimited space feature in Google Drive. If you're not paying extra for storage, it only offers 15GB which is shared among various Google services like Gmail. There are different pricing levels available. A plan for 2TB costs $9.99 per month or $99.99 annually.
I have education edition with unlimited space or drives. Still, I encounter a 400,000 item limit for files and folders.
I wasn't aware of that. Thank you for the clarification. I hope your concern is resolved.
I actually discovered what was happening. It was cache. When you upload to the shared drive, Google Drive will slow down your drive due to sync cache. I can't delete the cache until the upload finishes or else I risk losing data. I'll have to move the cache to a larger drive so it keeps uploading without issues.
