Hey everyone, I'm in Italy searching for a sub-200€ 2x8G RAM kit for a Ryzen 3000 (3600x/3700x). The most affordable options I've found are the 3600c16 and 3200c14 models. I've created a price comparison chart to help track these deals, mainly using Amazon.it and BPM-Power. While some suggest going for higher frequencies like 3800-4000MHz, I'm worried about hitting those speeds in my budget range—even with XMP profiles, some users report issues reaching 3200MHz. I'm also curious about the reliability of manually adjusting RAM settings versus following guides. It seems more like a hobby project than a strict performance upgrade for gaming builds. Also, Samsung B-DIMM is often highlighted but can be very costly and not worth it if XMP isn't feasible.

Purchase the Crucial Ballistix kit 3200CL16. It handles 3600CL14 with manual adjustments. You might also find a 32GB version available for under €200.

that's a bold claim, at least from the info I've gathered about subtiming ram. I'll try to apply as described here: https://github.com/integralfx/MemTestHel...aster/DDR4 OC Guide.md from a previous thread about this same kit one user posted: is it achievable? 1.45v for a 24/7 on computer, is it safe? does the Motherboard require some special features/specs to achieve it or even a b450 can take a 1.45v ram without issues?

It depends on the specific situation, but you can apply high voltage on B350. Offcourse you shouldn't expect excellent memory retention with some SOC and additional voltage—that should be fairly manageable. You can always reduce the voltage to 14-16-16-36, which would be quite normal. I'm assuming you're using a solid board that supports good memory tracing.

there are other platforms besides pcpartpicker where you can search for ram, such as online marketplaces or specialized electronics sites. You can compare prices, serial numbers, and timing details directly.

I connected the particular kit with PCP because its specifications indicate it only supports B-die. CJR doesn’t run that way either, and rev E isn’t compatible. https://it.pcpartpicker.com/product/YTKc...416g400c9k it’s a decent B-die. It works best on a board-to-board setup, so you can’t just verify it independently. Mid-high end X570 boards hold up well. If you’re after the top performance, ITX and DTX boards are worth considering (though they sometimes have tracing issues). Any solid tracing should work. It doesn’t depend on the chipset or memory VRM—just a bottom-of-the-barrel VRM with ample memory will matter. Gigabyte uses the same memory VRM from the B450 DS3H to the X570 Aorus Xtreme, and overclocking isn’t affected much. TL;DR at 3933mhz or higher, use these timings (19-19-19 -39) and divide speed by those numbers. If it exceeds 200, it’s a B-die. Otherwise, it might not be worth the effort. At its best, you get crazy rev E or a solid B-die—it’s a reliable way to confirm if it’s a B-die, though accuracy isn’t perfect and some E-dies can slip through.

It seems I discovered my own solution. If 200MHz equals 1 cas even beyond 3800… I’m curious about using a budget 4000 cl19 kit and just enabling XMP. But after all, a 50€ jump to a better one means more work… Ugh… things are getting complicated.
