The motherboard is an MSI G370 Tomahawk. I discussed BIOS flash since that was where the previous discussion concluded, though I'm not entirely sure if it applies to my situation because I'm new to BIOS settings.

It's quite clear from what you say. The motherboard is quite old, which might mean no updates were made. You should look for guides that explain the process.
