My setup always hides the panel and uses plank as a dock, making it feel like a Mac desktop. Unfortunately, plank doesn’t support waylands.

This method is ideal since it uses less screen real estate compared to the standard top and bottom panels. I’m familiar with the Windows taskbar and prefer tray icons along with a date/time display in the lower-right corner. Only used Mac once and found the layout unsatisfactory overall.
