Hello everyone. My second attempt to set up an RGB display in a CPU case hasn’t started yet. The issue is I haven’t located the most affordable RGB motherboard that can support a bunch of Thermaltake Quad Rings fans. Of course, it’s about finding the cheapest compatible processor. I mean “cheapest” here because these RGB boards are quite expensive despite their bulky design, but I don’t need their size. All I really want is to connect the quad rings and get it going...!!! What else am I after? Well, nothing but a stunning RGB light display! Please ignore any complaints about being too practical. Just the motherboard and the CPU. Oh! And remember the words “CHEAPEST” and “barebones”. Thanks!

The connections include controllers, or were they purchased individually? The fans have a USB 2.0 port, meaning your motherboard doesn’t require RGB headers.

Thanks for the reply. No buys yet—things are coming together. Does that mean you can skip a motherboard with RGB headers? Yes, that sounds good! Updated February 26, 2021 by Saheb

It’s possible to connect the fans without issues, but make sure your motherboard supports USB power delivery and has enough ports. Check the specifications for compatibility and ensure you’re using the right cables.
