One is free, one is expensive. If you don't know the differences other than that, then you don't need photoshop.

I haven’t tried a genuine Photoshop version and it’s tricky to set up, so I was curious if GIMP could teach me photo editing just as well.

I think it functions as both a magnet and a downloadable file. There needs to be an option to download it above the torrent link.

Obtain an older version of Photoshop. The Gimp interface is difficult for me to understand.
