Gigabyte Z790 without POST support
Gigabyte Z790 without POST support
Hey Team, Welcome to the forum! Just started here and had to search online for solutions but found nothing fitting my setup. My system specs are: CPU 13700KF, cooler NH-D15, 1 GB RAM, Aorus Elite Z790 drive, Kingston KC3000 2TB SSD, G.Skill Trident Z5 DDR5 6400 CL32 GPU, AMD R9 Fury X (from old rig), PSU Corsiar AX760. I recently upgraded from an i7-4790K and ordered new parts, but only kept the GPU and PSU since the new GPU is out of stock. The monitor connects via HDMI and is ready for Windows, though it won’t display anything. It boots normally with VGA LEDs, but when I tried to install Windows, it stuck on VGA and wouldn’t boot. I updated my BIOS to version FDa after a restart, but the issue persisted. Clearing CMOS didn’t help. I followed some troubleshooting steps from a guide, but nothing worked. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! TIA, Poly Fox
Have you attempted to reinstall the GPU? How long has it been since you last booted it? On first start-up it can take some time. Concerning the error messages, they were removed because it’s cheaper to use just four LEDs instead of a seven-segment display. Welcome to the forums!
The time required is sufficient. It's strange it doesn't post with R9 Fury X. I checked other users who use that GPU with a current CPU and motherboard. If it functions on your older setup but not now, the problem might be related to the GPU's VBIOS interacting with the motherboard BIOS. Try updating the VBIOS and see if it resolves the issue. For more details about this VBIOS concern, check the link provided. I'm confident it should work with the GTX 1080 Ti and RTX 3080 Ti as well.
The issue has been fixed. I tested a 1080ti from a friend, and it worked fine. Your setup seems to be functioning properly now. As noted, Jenjer’s R9 Fury X might have had compatibility problems due to an old bio, but the R9 model could also face limitations. Driver support ended for the R9 Fury X on June 23, 2022, though the 1080ti remains supported by Nvivida. Thanks for your assistance, Poly Fox.
