Gigabyte Z590 AORUS ELITE AX features the third M.2 port (M2P_SB), but it isn't recognizing the NVMe SSD.
Hello. I purchased this motherboard a week ago and filled most of the ports with parts when it arrived. Recently, I installed another Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB on the remaining M2P_SB slot, but it didn’t appear anywhere. I examined Windows (Disk Management, Device Manager, diskpart), then checked the BIOS (I attempted to enable CSM as shown in some videos, but it always displayed N/A for M2P_SB). I assumed the SSD was defective, though it functioned correctly on the MSB_SB port. I suspect the M2P_SB connection might be faulty—my technician pointed out that the first three pins on the left seem different from the others. He suggested using a needle to adjust them, since they appear slightly higher or lower than the rest. I’m uncertain about this method and hope there’s another solution. If I have to wait a long time for a replacement, I’d appreciate your advice or guidance on how to fix it. Thank you in advance! Here’s a photo of a working M.2 port from my old Gigabyte B560M H motherboard for reference. My specs include: OS - Windows 10, Motherboard - Gigabyte Z590 AORUS ELITE AX CPU, Intel i7 11700KF, M.2 SSD (M2A_CPU), Samsung 980 PRO 500GB M.2 SSD (M2B_SB), Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB SATA SSD (port 3), Innovation IT Basic 240GB SATA HDD (port 2), Seagate Barracuda 2TB.
I considered it, and received some ideas from others too. I didn’t attempt it before since the manual doesn’t mention a single port being available at once. Still, I’ll try this tonight just to be safe.
I also checked the manual and found the same point. My suggestion remains the same because sometimes things aren't as clear-cut. On my mainboard, I encountered an issue with PCIe lanes due to a specific device setup. It's a bit uncertain, but it might help or provide more hints about the problem.
Sadly, those three pins caused the issue. Even after following your advice, BIOS didn't recognize them. I spoke with the retailer, who told me it would take 40 days before a new or repaired motherboard arrives. I’m considering switching to an SATA III SSD or looking for a technician to fix it. Thanks again for your help!
