Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Ultra doesn't function properly in XMP mode when using more than one DIMM module.
Hey everyone. I bought a Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Ultra yesterday and haven’t been able to get it running in XMP mode with two DIMMs. It works fine when both are placed in slots. The BIOS is up to date. I’ve tried several steps: putting the DIMMs in channels 1 and 2, removing the CMOS battery, re-seating the memory and power connectors, running Memtest at 2133MHz on both with no errors, and using Prime95 at the same frequency without issues. The memory model is listed directly from QVL (link provided). Before you disassemble and reinstall the board, could you share any tips? I’ve had similar problems with Corsair memory on my Threadripper Aorus, so maybe it’s best to avoid mixing them. Thanks ahead!
Through channels 1 and 2 I referred to slots 1/3 and 2/4, not 1/2 and 3/4.
If someone else encounters this problem, it seems my memory chips were faulty. I swapped them in with reliable matching DIMMs and everything works fine now.
