Gigabyte X870e Aorus Elite WiFi7 (ice) supports memory training for both soft and hard drives.
Hello everyone, I hope this helps clarify the situation. My setup includes: Gigabyte x870e Aorus Elite WiFi7 (ice) REV 1.1, AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D 4x Kingston FURY 32GB DDR5 6000MT/s (KF560C36BBEAK2-64), ASUS GeForce RTX 5090 ROG Astral LC OC 32GB GDDR7. The problem I’m experiencing is that every time I boot—whether hard or soft, regardless of the EXPO setting—I trigger memory training each cycle. Once the initial load completes and timings appear correct, reducing the RAM to either one or two modules still works fine, as expected. However, with more RAM it causes the issue to reoccur.
It's impressive to hear you're achieving 6000MT/s with four 32GB drives. You might be optimizing BIOS settings by enabling Memory Context Restore, which can cut memory training time significantly. It seems the multiple drives are putting extra load on the memory controller, but your setup is handling it well—your 4x 16GB sticks also perform without issues when MCR is active.
I'm still getting used to this stuff. Are you reading everything correctly? You're seeing 6000MT/s as reported in Task Manager and CUP-Z. I changed Memory Context Restore to enabled and Power Down settings, but after saving and restarting, it boots into Windows after memory training. However, if I reboot or power off and back on, it won't start with error code "0d" on the debug screen. That means a BIOS reset is needed. I've also confirmed the latest BIOS version was flashed (F7). It's a bit confusing, and I'm wondering if this might be related to a memory issue.
CPU-Z indicates a speed of 6000MT/s, which is 2993x2 for double data rate (DDR), giving a total of 6000. I notice it shows 6000CL36, suggesting the tighter CL30 models might have more problems. Still, 128GB at this speed is impressive. With Memory Context Restore enabled, can you reboot the system? Even with EXPO applied?
When MCR is active, I receive the first memory training and then launch Windows. However, it doesn't restart; instead, the debug display shows the same error code continuously. This delay in booting is frustrating because of the extended time needed for the memory training.
