I'm documenting this for my friend who reached out for assistance. His Gigabyte Sabre 17 laptop has performed well for years, possibly longer than a comparable PC from the same era. Recently, it's been experiencing serious problems such as frequent game crashes, blue screens, and random shutdowns without any warning. We've measured temperatures and observed the machine running on standby for extended periods, so overheating due to dust isn't likely. Clearing the Windows settings completely didn't resolve the issue. We've scanned for malware, verified storage health, updated GPU drivers, and confirmed the Windows version. I'm concerned that using the 'reset this PC' method might leave behind corrupted files. Could there be anything else we should try? Many of you understand how challenging it is to troubleshoot a computer without being able to see it directly.

It's unclear exactly what's going on. You might want to check your BIOS version or test your RAM. BSOD errors and online searches can help identify the issue. Take a photo and look it up—details like the laptop model can assist. Resetting the PC in Windows usually works, but you may need to explore several links. Good luck!

Thank you for your assistance. One of the error codes was “DRIVER_STATE_POWER_FAILER,” and there’s another with a similar name. I’ll look into it soon. We just need to identify what it means next, then we’re good.
