Yesterday I purchased a Gigabyte RX 9070 gaming OC. The GPU and hotspot temperatures were acceptable, though the VRM temperature reached 88º during load and 55º when idle. I replaced the thermal pads from the original model with new ones. The VRM temperature fell to 80º, but the idle stayed around 55º. I understand these VRM readings are typical, but my previous Gigabyte RX 6800 xt gaming OC had much lower VRM temperatures (36º idle and 75º load). I looked up other RX 9000 series VRM temperatures and found similar situations. Is a high idle VRM temperature normal for RX 9000 cards?

70 to 90 under load is generally acceptable, staying below 100 is okay though not best. Idling at around 60 is typical.
