People often boost their fans to full speed during CPU spikes in games. This is typical in many modern titles and can be quite bothersome. Are there BIOS or controller options that stop this? P.S. Most BIOS settings for power management and hardware monitoring let you input a fan curve. You can adjust it to lower noise by increasing heat output. For instance, see the guide at https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?threa...os.369711/

This depends on the location of the case fans, but if we think about them as being connected to your motherboard, it would be straightforward to access the fan settings in your BIOS and tweak the curve accordingly—either making it slower to start or keeping it steady.

Hit the solution button by mistake—laugh it up. If these fans are linked to an RGB controller, might it influence things like RPM logging in HWINFO? The spikes aren’t showing up in HWINFO either.

I've attempted to use fan curves via the BIOS and Argus Monitor, but they didn't help. As I mentioned before, connecting the fans to a RGB controller like Coolermaster might make a difference.

I really don’t remember much but here’s what I think I know: it’s a Coolermaster Argb controller paired with my ML360 radiator and three fans. I’m not sure how it connects to the motherboard—probably one fan wire powers the motherboard and another goes to the RGB controller, which is connected via SATA to the PSU. That’s all I can recall. I also tried adjusting the fan speed settings in my BIOS to smooth out temperature spikes, but it didn’t help much. The CPU fans are currently set to 4 seconds, so you might want to increase that value if needed.

I understand the confusion, but after reviewing the details, it’s clear I missed something important. The fan spikes continue even though the CPU temperature and BIOS settings appear normal. The monitors aren’t showing any signs of these spikes. I should have checked the GPU fans too. It seems there might be a defect or problem with my 2070 Super from Gigabyte, as others have reported similar issues. Thank you for your patience.

There is a general setting available, but I’m unsure if it applies to your specific situation. Navigate to "H/W Monitor" and adjust each case fan to silent or performance mode based on your needs. I chose performance since I want minimal heat buildup inside the case, even though my fans have always run at full speed continuously. Reflecting now, you might have connected your fans to just a few CPU fan pins. If correct, they should respond similarly to how the CPU operates. Make sure they’re linked to pins labeled "Case_fan" or something comparable, not "CPU_Fan."

actually thats a known Nvidia driver bug, but ok. There is *no* good reason to ever set a Nvidia gpu to "prefer maximum performance" all it does is heat up the card unnecessarily and therefore *lowers* performance due to how Nvidia gpu "boost" works (higher temps = lower frequencies) Nope, you're not the first person to be confused about that, I just thought Id clarify the situation. : )
