Hello everyone, I’m about to begin a new build using a 9800X3D and a Gigabyte X870E Aorus Pro. On my motherboard, the BIOS version is listed as rev 1, while Gigabyte states the required BIOS is F1. Are these the same? I’d like to know if updating it at the time of setup will work properly. Thanks for your attention!

Rev 1 deals with updating or redesigning the board model. It differs from the original bios on the board. You’d prefer a B850 motherboard to ensure compatibility, since the actual motherboard doesn’t significantly impact performance.

Stand revision is expected during the product's life. Multiple updates may occur, but the BIOS version isn't related to these changes. The Gigabyte X870E Aorus Pro ships with BIOS F1, marking the first BIOS release for this board. This ensures the 9800X3D functions without needing a BIOS update. Updating is advised for future improvements, though it won’t be necessary at purchase. Short summary: everything is fine right out of the box.

The 9800X3D is fully compatible with the Gigabyte X870E Aorus Pro right away. Only the B850 model offers this feature.

I made an error thinking it was the x670; I should have noted that glasses are needed more often. Regarding the chipset, the B850 is indeed similar to the B650 for the 7000 series CPUs.

The B850 fits the 9000 lineup, along with the X870 (corrected earlier). Since both use the same AM5 connector, a B650 and X670 can function properly after a BIOS update. I usually run a B650 with an overclocked 9800X3D and haven’t encountered any issues.

(I understand the situation) The same port should function no matter the chipset. I realized I was focusing on which chipset would fit rather than confirming the box I built. Thank you for catching that and pointing it out.

You just assembled your setup using the identical motherboard and CPU combination. It started up perfectly on the first attempt. The upgrade procedure is straightforward—I completed it without installing Windows, so I can't confirm any changes compared to the F3H model versus the F1 version.
