Gigabyte B650I Aorus Ultra model not available for 7800X3D again.
Gigabyte B650I Aorus Ultra model not available for 7800X3D again.
I’ve tested two Gigabyte B650I Aorus Ultra boards and three different RAM configurations (two XMP, one Expo). My setup stays limited to XMP/Expo profiles. The first motherboard and RAM sticks functioned briefly before failing to post unless I swapped out a RAM module from another model and only one stick per set. Recently, after an update to BIOS f5c (which disappeared from Gigabyte’s site), my system still doesn’t boot properly—only clicks, no display. I’ve tried removing RAM sticks, disconnecting the GPU, unplugging the PSU, and even disabling all USB ports, but nothing changes. The NVMe drive remains connected along with CPU power, fan headers, motherboard power, and the power button cable. It seems the issue lies in the motherboard itself, possibly between the RAM slots and the card. I’ve built computers since 1998 and have never faced such problems before.
Great troubleshooting steps so far. It seems the RAM you had might not be on the official support list for your motherboard. Overall, this looks like another potential issue with the board itself. I’m not familiar with Gigabyte error codes or signals, and the manual didn’t cover them either. Are there any LED lights or sounds that indicate a problem?
The initial two rams weren't working properly; this one is currently in use on the QVL even though it's XMP, not EXPO. I was surprised by that but realized it's acceptable. The first two RAM modules I owned were XMP and EXPO, both facing the same problem, but only the XMP version allowed me to boot up sometimes with just one stick in slot 2. This board doesn't have any visible LED lights for error messages or a gaming glow, and there are no speakers present.
What a frustration not having any diagnostic signals on that board. Is there even a possibility to transfer to another manufacturer's board? It feels like this gigabyte board is refusing to cooperate. If moving to a different board resolves the entire issue, you're in the clear. You've already tried all the troubleshooting steps with this board. Have you attempted starting it through the GPU on the CPU? The only way to dig deeper would be elimination testing—though I suspect the problem isn't the power supply but something else here.
I haven't tried another mobile yet; I'd have to place an order just to test, but that's my fallback option. Yes, by leaving the GPU PCIe slot out (it's a riser in a Meshlicious) and removing the two GPU connectors from the PSU, I connected directly to the mobile's DP port. On my first board with that setup, it worked during initial testing in the second slot. I didn't suspect the PSU was the problem either, since it functioned with the previous build and is now handling this one for the first two days. I even ran it under heavy load while playing Hell Let Loose last night for about two hours straight without any issues.
It seems we're moving closer to a board issue. Please let us know the outcome if you manage to test another board. I suspect a riser issue could be involved, especially since you mentioned using a Meshlicious riser cable. However, the dp port on the board isn't working this time, which makes it harder to pinpoint. The riser cable has had mixed results for many builders, so it's worth considering.
I attempted to re-seat the CPU and it functioned again! But when I powered it down to restart and check, it returned to the same non-startup state and failed to post. It's odd that the reseat resolved the issue only briefly, since I didn't change anything else except re-seat, reapply thermal paste, and install the AIO.
It looks normal up close, but checking from different perspectives with a flashlight helped confirm everything is okay. No visible signs on either the pins or the CPU side. I’ve been watching for any odd marks related to burning, even though I didn’t do any physical inspection.
This situation has been the same for you after two days. Your setup includes a Gigabyte B650I with the Aurus Ultra Ryzen 7600X cooler, a 850W PSU, G.Skill Flare X5 6000, 32GB RAM, and an NR200P Max. You’ve tried everything possible before posting here, but you’re still unable to get the GPU or onboard graphics working. It functioned well for two days before this issue arose. You mentioned either getting a good unit or switching models.
