I tried turning it back on after it was off for about an hour and a half. It started up without any changes, but then it crashed into a black screen with the power indicator lit and fans spinning. It didn’t restart. Recently, after being off for nearly two hours, I powered it on—lights came on, fans ran, but no sound from the speakers and it didn’t boot at all. I had to force shut it down by pressing the power button, which seems to work now since it didn’t do that before.
It takes around 4 to 5 seconds for the power button to activate shutdown, which is typical for such devices.
I left the device overnight and turned it on this morning without making any adjustments. I didn’t even remove the GPU or re-seat it. I stepped away to do other tasks and heard the characteristic beep, which confirmed the boot was proceeding as expected. Now I’m back in Windows 11 and can see the message. Looking at reports from others who faced issues with PCIe slots, I’m trying to understand what’s happening here. It seems that after the system started working again without a GPU connected, the BIOS automatically detected it needed to use the CPU’s built-in graphics. Once I installed a known functional GPU, it recognized the presence of that device and switched over. I went through several restarts and performed a clean install of the latest AMD drivers. When I power on and it fails to boot, I notice two problems: first, just one beep from the PC speaker, and second, the fans on the GPU don’t spin up at all. I’m wondering if it’s still in its autodetection phase, detecting the GPU but not enabling the onboard graphics, which then prevents initialization. Eventually, it just sits idle, unsure of what to do. My next plan is to enter the BIOS and adjust settings so that the onboard graphics stay active, as this setup before the change appeared stable and trouble-free.
Have you turned off the quick boot or restart option in Windows? Disabling it can make the system appear to shut down even though the power light remains active.
I turned it off and didn’t see any improvement. I tried to fix it, but it still didn’t work. I removed the GPU and let the system detect it automatically. After a Windows update, everything started up without issues. I was able to shut down, restart, and even reboot without problems. Then I forced the onboard GPU in the BIOS while keeping the first output as PCIE1. After reinserting the GPU, everything worked properly. I restarted, tried a game that had previously caused the crash, adjusted settings slightly, but it still failed. Pressing the power button shut it down completely. When I attempted to restart, the original issue returned—lights on, fans running, but not booting. Now I’m back with the GPU disabled and only using the built-in graphics, which isn’t ideal. I was hoping for a better GPU soon, but this problem makes me hesitant.
