So just got a brand new motherboard yesterday. Built the PC slowly, ended up with a Ryzen 5 5600, 16GB DDR4, RTX 2060. It’s a modest budget setup for my mom since the GPU was free thanks to a friend (it works fine in my system too). The fans are all kicking up but no power supply noise. I’ve swapped in an older 1050 to test, but that didn’t work. Tried different RAM, one stick at a time, flashed the BIOS, and even considered getting a motherboard speaker to see if it helps. Anyone have any suggestions? Is there a specific USB type needed for the BIOS update? I’ve rebuilt it three times already—don’t want to do it again just to be sure the board is dead. Thanks in advance!

Which motherboard are we discussing? It might require a BIOS upgrade to recognize 5000 series processors. Note: I noticed you attempted that earlier—sorry about that.

Usually USB 2.0 is preferred by the manufacturer, typically FAT32

Inspect the CPU for any bent pins to ensure proper functionality.

New board but it doesn't indicate much since B550 boards can still include the older BIOS, especially in markets with lower demand. Check the box for the BIOS version or consider installing an older Ryzen CPU if you have one. You'll need BIOS Version F14 to support the minimum requirements. Good news—your board supports CPU-less BIOS updates via Q-Flash. Download the latest BIOS and follow their instructions.

Without any indication from the mobile speaker, I believe it’s likely it’s dead. I tried a different power supply just in case.

he tried another power supply even though it wasn't during the bios flash attempt; maybe it works, I'm hoping. It has a new speaker today, so I'm testing it now, but it didn't beep—sadly.
