I was also thinking about the ASRock B460M-ITX/AC, but it only has four USB ports. However, it could be a good option since it’s half the price of the Z490. Not sure if I’d want to save so much on the motherboard.
Don't hold off just yet—wait until mining finishes. Your PC is in decent shape, and adding a new CPU won’t significantly boost your gaming performance since your GPU is already quite limited.
I was considering this but the i5 looks appealing due to its price. It’s $145 and feels like good value. Also, I haven’t upgraded much lately—I made my current system in 2015 and only changed it a bit with an SSD and a new GPU (GTX 950) after the R9 stopped working :c
By the time costs stabilize again, we'll be just a few years away—so keep waiting and grab something around 11,400 or so for that price now, or wait until it hits 10,700 for later. Intel CPUs aren't really selling well in the DIY scene except at these extremely low prices. You could even find a 9.0GHz chip for just $220 without any trouble for a couple of weeks. Just hold on and plan your next upgrade as a solid one.
I just reconsidered it, it isn’t a huge savings compared to last year (with the Ryzen 5). Using the new CPU with a GTX 950 wouldn’t really improve performance much. I’ll wait until GPU prices stabilize before buying a new PC. Thanks!
