I recently upgraded my PC while keeping the same GPU, power supply, and storage. I installed an AMD 2600 in a Gigabyte B450 AORUS PRO WIFI setup with 1x16GB Team Vulcan 2400Mhz RAM, Asus R9 390 Strix, and an 850w Silverstone PSU. All details are listed on my profile. After a clean Windows installation, I noticed occasional slowdowns in rendering when playing games like Overwatch, Borderland Pre-Sequel, and Apex Legends. At first, I suspected the GPU was aging, but it kept happening. Later, using HWMonitor and Radeon Wattman, I discovered the system couldn’t detect the GPU’s fan speed or RPM. Both tools showed 0 RPM, and in most cases, the GPU section was missing entirely. This suggests the GPU was running at a fixed speed regardless of load, possibly leading to overheating warnings. Multiple messages indicated the card had hit its temperature limit. Wattman let me manually adjust the fan speed, but it didn’t adapt automatically based on heat.

I tried several fixes: restoring default driver settings, reinstalling Adrenaline multiple times, resetting BIOS, updating and rolling back BIOS, reinserting components, waiting an hour, resetting CMOS, using older drivers, and booting in Safe mode (which still showed no GPU data).

When I removed the GPU from my original system and installed it on an Intel 1150 board with the same drivers, both monitoring tools detected its RPM and adjusted it based on temperature—raising the fan when needed. That setup worked perfectly. Returning the GPU to my original machine didn’t solve the problem.

I’m running out of options and would appreciate any suggestions or insights. Please let me know if this points to a motherboard issue. If it is, I’ll reach out to Gigabyte for an RMA immediately. I’m uncertain they’d consider it, so I haven’t contacted them yet. I don’t have other GPUs available for testing.

The 1*16GB storage setup offers solid performance, especially with the boost from a Ryzen processor. A better alternative could be a 2*8GB RAM configuration at 3000 or 3200MHz.

TrueC is a notable tool, though it's worth highlighting its significance.

Because the quicker RAM was too costly. Just one stick will do, since I intend to switch to 32GB later (mobo only offers two slots).

Tested the newest version too, plus rolled back to the previous one.

You've tried quite a few suggestions, but it seems your setup might not work with this device.

During the transfer of the card to the alternative system, I verified the fan connectors on the card. Everything appeared normal. The system operated correctly initially, but the issue continued once the card was reinstalled in the new setup.
