Gigabyte Aorus Master X570 encountering error 90
I arrived late to the gathering but wanted to share my thoughts on code 90. In my case, BOTH the motherboard and the CPU failed. I had a Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master with a 5950X. While idling in Firefox, the PC shut down abruptly. Pressing the power button revealed the error code 90. After some basic troubleshooting—clearing CMOS, updating BIOS, checking connections, verifying RAM and graphics—my machine was moved to a hardware shop in France. There, they didn’t perform proper diagnostics and simply suggested replacing the RAM only. They didn’t mention the CPU issue, which I suspected was related to the motherboard. Eventually, I replaced it with an Asus Dark Hero and rebuilt the system using the old CPU. After restarting, code 90 appeared again. This time, I returned with both the CPU and the motherboard. The CPU issue was resolved quickly through a replacement order from AMD (via email, photos, and shipping). The motherboard required extensive testing; Asus advised many tests but no results. Eventually, after about a month, they confirmed it wasn’t damaged. This time, I was able to get it working again. A side note: during the second failure, my VGA LED lit up but the graphics card was fine—possibly the system struggled with GPU activation. It was frustrating, as this rig was meant to be a gaming setup. I spent roughly six weeks dealing with this situation and some hair loss. If you’re facing the same problem, double-check both the CPU and motherboard. Stay strong!
