Hello, over the past week my PC has unexpectedly powered down without warning (no fan noise, no error messages – it just stopped like it lost power, yet the RGB stays active). My temperatures are normal (~50°C CPU each time it shuts), I performed a CMOS reset and updated the BIOS (no overclocking), replaced the PSU, etc. The shutdowns occur rapidly under load (~30 seconds after running s-tui). Any suggestions on possible causes? Thanks.

Changed PSU to match the same wattage or higher. What are your specifications?

Original power rating was 750W, new unit draws 650W. System includes an i7-8700k at 3.7ghz with a Gigabyte Aurora 2080 and 32GB Corsair DDR4 3000MHz RAM. PCPartPicker suggests wattage above 400W.

I believe so: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/8VfdGL Regardless, shouldn't the 650W be more than enough for no overclock?

In the worst case, using standard voltages on the motherboard can reach around 312W. If you want extra margin, a 400W setup with a solid power supply seems reasonable. Regarding power supplies, look for efficient models that handle high loads. As for the event viewer, it might display errors during startup beyond just a shutdown issue—check the logs for more details.

The original power supply was a Coolermaster 750W unit. The replacement PSU is a GIGABYTE P650B, delivering 650W. I primarily run Linux but encounter the same problem on my VR/Windows partitions. The Windows Event Viewer displays a critical Kernel-Power error: the system restarted abruptly without a proper shutdown. This might result from the system failing to respond, crashing, or losing power suddenly. I’m unlikely to find crash logs since my drives don’t unmount before powering off—the machine shuts down almost instantly.

I bought a fresh Corsair 850W power supply and my setup is functioning properly after just ten minutes of the stress test. Appreciate it!
