It might be related to the updated netcode in BF4. I've encountered issues since the last patch when trying to play after my PC was running for a while. However, a 290 frame rate won't boost performance with 64 players in the lobby.

I accept the performance level, I don’t mind the frame rate numbers much. I want to see it running smoothly on my GPU, even if the connection is unstable—it shouldn’t impact how the map loads from my SSD. I believe this is just the game’s current version, but I noticed others with the same GPU maintaining 80-120 FPS on a 64p server. My 6950s consistently hit full frames and actually produced more frames on certain maps than the 290 did (one of them died). I also ran a clean driver wipe before installing the 290.

It's unclear what to say in that scenario.

The CPU doesn't need to be fully busy to cause a bottleneck; its load isn't the only clue. The GPU is the main indicator—anything under 99% means it's being limited by the CPU. I'm pushing two 780's at 99% in a 64-core setup with many people using M320s. Internet usage doesn't affect your game speed, so disconnect your Ethernet and keep FPS steady. @Op it's just the CPU holding you back; remove some background apps and try increasing the CPU frequency.

I've already reached my limit, and even after adjusting the CPU usage, it doesn't enhance performance.

Did you check if your vrm is causing the CPU to throttle? It's normal that your cpu usage drops, game doesnt ever go above 72% load on a 8core chip. Get me the model of your power supply.

All the information I've come across suggests a CPU can slow down even before reaching full capacity. I didn't realize it could bottleneck earlier. I have the same processor, which might mean the issue is with my PC usage. I'm growing tired of AMD chips.

Hello. I noticed you're using an AMD FX CPU. The FX lineup is known for laggy performance in BF3 64 multi-layered maps. Have you checked the single-player campaign to confirm this issue?

The PSU is a Rosewill RX850-s-b, and I’m uncertain whether the VRM is responsible for CPU throttling. I could try pushing it to 1.5V, but I don’t know how to verify that.
