Getting stuck before startup when Ram is added
Getting stuck before startup when Ram is added
Pc functioned normally. It experienced full frame freezes roughly every minute. The problem appears to stem from the GPU reaching 100% utilization on a hotspot. I removed the part, reapplied it, and restarted. After repaste and replugging, it powered up but didn’t display anything. I followed several troubleshooting steps: cleared CMOS, performed Q-Flash (USB BIOS update mode), reset CMOS, and adjusted jumpers. Currently, I’m uncertain about the exact cause. Once I cleared CMOS and executed Q-Flash, the PC started up normally. The CPU light passed through and halted at the DRAM stage, then turned off briefly before the light returned to the CPU. This might be normal, though I’m trying to piece together details even if unrelated.
The system runs Gigabyte Z690 UD DDR4 i5 13600K, Enermax AIO Aquafusion 2, Rtx 3080, with 850 MHz memory and 80+ Silver PSU.
I’ve tried: removing CMOS for a long time, using CMOS reset jumper settings, testing all RAM slots individually, getting a working unit from a friend, putting in no RAM at all (it would stay on briefly before flashing CPU+RAM), updating BIOS to various versions via direct button, changing PSU and removing the motherboard to rule out shorts, replacing NVMe drives, reapplying cooler, and even using an AIO pump. I also checked for interference from fans or pressure issues.
Despite these efforts, the PC still doesn’t boot properly. The last steps I considered were swapping in another CPU or returning it to Germany. It’s frustrating since this was supposed to be my ideal machine. Hopefully, someone can help me out soon. This experience has turned my dream PC into a nightmare over the past few days.
It might be a dead RAM module. Consider testing all potential RAM configurations to identify any inactive connections.
