Getting started with Windows 8.1 – simple request
This is everone's request. I do believe the start menu programs can be set to remove the metro screen all together.
I understand what you're talking about. I'm using Windows 8 on my school computer because I have enough space, and for the Tiles issue I installed Classic Start Menu and customized it. This way, when you start up, you see the regular desktop instead of the Tiles interface.
Click the desktop with the right-click, open Personal Settings, locate "See also" in the lower right corner, tap it, then select "Taskbar and Navigation." Move to the navigation section and adjust options there. If needed, explore the StartisBack program—it’s a small upgrade but highly effective!
