You're asking about navigation options. You can return your mouse to the bottom left, click the window button, press the Windows key, or use Alt + F4. In other windows, pressing F4 works, though it's often unnecessary except for certain apps.
Alt F4 seems to be the best option for closing a window, right? I’ve got 8 wins and a lot of stuff open on my Alt tab. Thanks!
You're confused about Windows 8's interface changes. It's similar to Windows 7, but with a different start menu layout.
Metro style windows cover every single one. They don’t have the usual minimise, resize, or X button at the top right. As you mentioned, pressing Alt F4 works it, but I’m wondering if I should turn that into a shortcut.
I hope I don't have to deal with it again, since Noire's update seems to have resolved most of my issues.
Would you like to jump straight to the desktop? I don’t want to keep logging in and switching between the Metro interface and multiple screens.
The choices are located in the menu, select the task bar, then click properties.
Windows 8.1 doesn't work well with Rocket Dock (though I really like it :c). When I relocated, I started from the desktop instead of the start screen and restored the classic shell. I also customized the start button and disabled password prompts—just my preferences. Hope this helps! Classic Shell is great for users moving from Windows 7 to 8/7.1 if they want that familiar look.
Great! The Desktop issue is resolved, and I discovered a way to auto-login. Thanks again!
