I finally connected to the internet but it wasn't functioning properly. I checked both the modem and router, as well as trying wireless connections. Someone suggested running a fast.com test, which showed speeds between 170-200 Mbps, while my phone only got 610 Mbps. Once I reached around 84 Mbps, the speed dropped sharply to under 10 Mbps, then stayed between 20-30 Mbps. I also tried using BNET and Steam, but the results were consistent. When I tested on my PS5, it worked smoothly. I restarted my PC, modem, and gateway. It seems a new modem might be needed. The cable modem appears to be faulty. Also, note that moving recently changed things—my old fiber connection had no issues for about three months before this. EDIT: Tested on Xbox and the problem persisted.

I installed Linux on a USB drive and started it, and the speed test performed flawlessly. I don’t know what it is or how it works. I’ve adjusted all possible settings.

This confirms your internet connection is functioning correctly, indicating the problem likely lies in software or driver settings on your computer's operating system. Since you're using Windows, consider updating your drivers or performing a fresh installation of the OS. For more detailed guidance, please share additional specifics such as your PC's manufacturer and model, the router and modem details, how your device is linked to the network, and information about your internet service provider and speed.

I didn’t clarify enough in this case. I tried to explain more where needed, but still nothing came through. Anyway, why does my Xbox feel slower compared to the PS5 and phone? It seems like a coincidence that both use Microsoft Windows products. That’s probably why I didn’t share my PC details or update drivers. I made sure everything was up to date, including the network settings.

PC specs: Z390-e, i9 9900k processor, GTX 970, 32GB Patriot memory. Modem link: Amazon product page provided. It connects directly via Ethernet from PC to modem. Tried using both Wi-Fi and router connection, but nothing worked. My ISP is Sparklight with a 1000 Mbps internet plan.

Additional notes: Xbox performance drops significantly—around 500 frames per second, often between 20-90% speed. The network port is gigabit, which worked fine before moving in; fiber gave me no issues at all. Speedtest results show up to 650 Mbps, but it takes a long time to reach that speed. On my phone, it reaches about 710 Mbps quickly. Xbox has a built-in speed test in settings showing 900 Mbps, which is higher than expected.

I’ll compensate them ten dollars if they solve it for me.

Hey everyone, here’s the latest update. I managed to get 900MBps, though it dropped to 630 afterward. I think the issue might be with the laptop itself—despite having a 5200HDD, it feels pretty bad compared to my main PC. Also, I hit a record of 1.2GB on fast.com. Are there any settings I should look into that could explain the difference between the two?
