Maybe I shouldn't rely on you since I don't have much experience here, but what's your screen refresh rate?

still using a 60hz monitor, plan to upgrade to 144hz next week. will this also boost my FPS in CS:GO besides making the game smoother? Thanks for your reply!

I have a Ryzen 1600, an EVGA RX 2070, and I'm only getting 100fps at low settings, which is a decent frame rate.

On your 60 Hz display, limit the frames per second to 60. For a 144 Hz screen, set the FPS cap to 144. This should resolve the problem. Any frame rate above 60 on your 60 Hz monitor and any rate above 144 on your 144 Hz monitor will remain invisible unless you upgrade to a higher refresh rate model.

You can find a brand new 24.5" 1080p 165 Hz monitor for roughly $180 to $205, or a similar 24.5" 1080p 240 Hz model for about $250 to $290 fairly often.
