Hello everyone, I'm just getting started with this setup and feeling a bit unsure. I noticed my 7950X3D on the MSI Carbon X670e has some unusual temperature readings on Max CPU Die (average) reaching up to 127°C, and the VDDCR_SOC voltage can spike as high as 2.6V. I've recorded these values in HWinfo and attached the screenshots here. Right now, I'm running the latest BIOS from MSI (version 1.0.0.8 AGESA). My cooling solution is a Noctua NHD15 in a Lian Li case with six 140mm fans front and top. On the BIOS, I've set the PBO curve to negative per core at 25, with CPU boost and a thermal throttle of +200MHz at 85°C. Everything else is auto. I'm also using a HyperX Fury beast 6000MHz with overclocking enabled. Are these numbers normal? I've heard about potential issues with CPU overheating on X3D, so I'm looking for advice from experienced users to see if any adjustments are needed.
It looks like a few readings might be faulty, especially the 2.6V on the SOC which is likely too low. The temperature images from the core are normal, but I’d like to see the 126C screenshots as they seem unusual.
Yeah, I left my cooler missing and forgot the Noctua NHD15 in Lian Li Case setup. I didn’t save or take a screenshot of the one with the 127C fans because I panicked and shut it down right away when I saw that spec. I changed my CPU settings but still had issues. The 2.6V setting worries me, and I noticed my PC restarts on its own sometimes with a 25-degree curve. It doesn’t restart as often at 30 degrees, and that 2.6V was during idle mode. I was sleeping at the time, which adds to my concern.
If 2.6V was pushed into the SOC you’d damage the CPU and motherboard before starting Windows. That value is incorrect. A high core temperature points to a faulty cooler mount or poor contact. The NHD15 isn’t ideal for Ryzen processors since the heat sinks don’t reach them properly.
Yeah, I'm currently waiting for the Noctua offset mount, but still I think the temp shouldn't go that high on idling, because when I'm gaming even in cyberpunk my highest CPU temp is 72
Idle temperatures are usually unimportant. AMD Ryzen drops from 35°C to 55°C with only a slight increase in usage... 72°C during gaming works perfectly fine.
